I was asked to paint a mural in a primary school playground as part of a voluntary scheme called Give & Gain day. My response was to paint a magic door that would capture the imagination of little minds, engaging them to believe in another secret place behind it.

'Hopes and Fears' was the theme for this year’s Advent Windows in Greenwich. My window took the form of a video installation showing a repeating loop of morphing colours. By watching carefully the viewer can start to make out familiar images from recent news stories, good and bad.

'Spokn' was a concept for using Locative Media to increase the sense of community among London cyclists. The idea was for a social network, which exists on the street as well as at a desktop computer. Friends are made by coming into proximity with other cyclists, sending greetings to each other’s mobile devices. These connections build up to create a network of people from all sides of London joined by their daily cycle routes, which can then be viewed on the website.

This paper investigates the application of existing interactive narrative theory to the creation of interactive, locative narratives. Locative media is introduced by outlining what is currently happening in the field and defining the elements that make the medium unique. Locative narrative is then introduced to the existing interactive narrative theories to see where it applies. I received a commendation for this paper.

TagIt was a proposal for a blogging service, specifically designed for news reporting by citizens. The aim was to get world news out to people from the people who are close to or involved in the story, without a 3rd party journalist. We now see these sorts of services are widely used (Audioboo, Twitter, etc).

The idea for Storm was to reflect the actions of the natural outdoor environment, through electronic audio and visual. As a result, the viewer’s experience of the wind impacting on their skin, clothes and hair is synthesised with what they are experiencing on the projection and through the speakers. I exhibited this piece at 'New Designers 2006' in London.

This installation used light pouring out of a small hole in the wall as a call to the show visitor to engage with it. Unaware that they eye is being captured onto video, all they see is a reflection of their eye blinking back at them.
It is only in the next, dark space that they see the video collage of eyes, which feels uncomfortable to look at especially when they start to recognise one of the eyes as their own.
